Madrid/Santiago de Compostela, September 9, 2026.- Asteo Red Neutra and Rede Aberta take a new step in the evolution of Rurix, originally created in 2024 as a commercial alliance to share neutral fiber optic networks in rural areas, now consolidated as a shared rural digital infrastructure to drive strategic and commercial synergies.

Backed by the Connecting Europe Broadband Fund (CEBF), managed by Cube Infrastructure Managers (Cube IM), Asteo Red Neutra and Rede Aberta are wholesale telecommunications infrastructure operators focused on FTTH networks, connectivity services, and digital infrastructures in rural areas in Spain. CEBF invested in Rede Aberta in 2020 and in Asteo Red Neutra in 2021.

Asteo and Rede Aberta maintain their activity and will continue to operate under their current brands and maintain their operations, contracts, and market positioning.

In this new stage of Rurix as a common rural digital infrastructure structure, Pedro Abad has been appointed CEO and Pere Antentas, CTO. Both will continue to perform their current duties as CEO of Asteo Red Neutra and CEO of Rede Aberta, respectively.

Ana Rial has been appointed CFO. With more than 30 years of experience in executive and financial responsibility positions in the telecommunications sector, including her career at Grupo Excom, Onivia, and Vodafone, Rial will contribute to Rurix's financial management, strategic development, and investor relations.

Asteo and Rede have significant rural FTTH networks and deployment capacity, along with high-capacity, long-haul transport connectivity for operators, data centers, and major technology clients. Together, both companies operate more than 6,500 km of transport network and cover nearly 800,000 rural households in more than 2,300 population centers in Spain.

Looking ahead, Rurix will selectively analyze collaboration or growth opportunities compatible with its strategy and rigorous financial discipline, provided they align with its strategy of consolidating alternative networks and long-haul routes in rural environments and major data corridors.
