High-speed Internet access has ceased to be a complementary service to become an element directly related to the quality of life in rural areas.
This is reflected in the IV Report of the Asteo Observatory "Outlook on the digital environment and quality of life in rural Spain", prepared by Asteo Red Neutra, a company in which Rurix participates, in collaboration with Random Strategy. The study analyzes the behavior of Internet users residing in municipalities of up to 10,000 inhabitants.
According to the report, 72% of users consider it essential to have a stable and high-speed connection to enjoy a good quality of life. Furthermore, 74% of the households surveyed already have fiber optics.
Digitization also opens up new economic opportunities. 74% consider that online businesses and digital entrepreneurship can improve opportunities for those living in rural areas, while more than half of the workers in the primary sector consider a quality connection essential to modernize their farms.
Artificial intelligence is also reaching rural areas: 43% of those surveyed claim to have used AI tools during 2025, mainly to search for information, resolve doubts or use them for professional purposes.
Another major area of transformation is housing. Telecare, sensors or home automation solutions are perceived as tools capable of making it easier for older people to maintain their autonomy and remain in their homes for longer.
The results of the Observatory reinforce a central idea for Rurix: having quality digital infrastructure in rural territories is a necessary condition for households, businesses and new projects to develop with the same opportunities as in large urban centers.
