About us

The rural digital infrastructure platform

Rurix Rural Interconnection is the parent company of Asteo Red Neutra and Rede Aberta. As the group's common platform, it drives the commercial coordination of its digital infrastructure capabilities - FTTH and long-distance networks - under criteria of neutrality, resilience, and efficiency.

About Rurix

Critical infrastructure built from the rural territory

At a time when Europe and the world need more data capacity, network resilience, and autonomy from external infrastructures, Rurix demonstrates that such critical infrastructure can also be built from rural territories.

Through Asteo Red Neutra and Rede Aberta, Rurix coordinates a proposal for interconnection and long-distance transmission services over transport networks that will connect Spain, Portugal, and France, along with an FTTH network covering more than 800,000 rural homes in over 2,300 population centers in Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, Galicia, and the Community of Madrid.

Originally established in 2024 as a commercial alliance, Rurix evolves in 2026 into its current corporate holding structure, incorporating new services linked to long-distance transport networks (DWDM), data center interconnection, and Edge computing.

Why Rurix?

RUR + IX | Rural interconnection

The name Rurix synthesizes the company's fundamental proposal: infrastructure born in the rural area whose function is interconnection.

RUR

Rural

The origin and focus of Rurix lies in the rural environment: networks born in villages, regions, and underserved corridors, not in major hubs.

IX

Interconnection

Interconnection is the company's core function: the fabric that unites access networks, long distance, data centers, edge, and operators.

Rurix means making rural areas an essential interconnection point for the digital economy: data sovereignty and network resilience built from the territory, not just from the big capital cities.

Mission, Vision and Values

Why we exist and where we are going

Mission

Boost, together with Asteo Red Neutra and Rede Aberta, the development of neutral and high-performance telecommunications infrastructures that connect large data corridors and cloud ecosystems with the territory, facilitating scalable and resilient connectivity.

Vision

Consolidate a footprint of neutral digital infrastructures of global reach from rural areas, prepared for the demand of global data traffic in Europe, facilitating the decentralization of connectivity and reinforcing European digital sovereignty over its own data.

Strategic values

Structural Neutrality

Carrier-Neutrality

Infrastructure that does not rely on a single operator or external actors: control and sovereignty over the data that flows.

Resilience and Flexibility

Networks designed to never fail, with real redundancy against a single point of failure.

Cohesion and Decentralization

Rural connectivity as an engine for territorial equality, not as a business periphery.

Future-Ready Architecture

Continuous deployment since 2020 and cutting-edge technology (XGSPON, DWDM) to meet the demand for AI and cloud in Europe.

Our impact

Data sovereignty

European critical infrastructure, not dependent on third parties: data generated within the territory stays and is processed closer to its origin.

Network resilience

True redundancy and structural neutrality against a single point of failure, for operators, data centers, and major tech companies.

Rural connectivity

Bridge the territorial digital divide by bringing state-of-the-art infrastructure to the less densely populated areas of Spain.

Digitalization of society

Preparing Spain and Europe for the traffic, AI, and cloud demand that is already arriving, without leaving rural areas behind.

Cutting-edge technology

XGSPON in FTTH access

FTTH networks are built on XGSPON, the latest generation standard for high-capacity symmetrical fiber access, prepared for the bandwidth demands of the coming years.

Rurix's FTTH network is built on XGSPON, the next-generation standard for high-capacity symmetric fiber access, ready for the bandwidth demands of the coming years.

DWDM in the transport network

The transport infrastructures and DCI capacities developed by the group's operating companies are based on DWDM technology, carrying large volumes of traffic between data centers, Edge computing nodes, and cloud ecosystems with maximum capacity and reliability.

Future-proof architecture

This technological combination positions Asteo Red Neutra and Rede Aberta to meet the growing demand for data traffic, AI, and cloud in Europe, with an infrastructure designed to scale without losing performance.

PUBLIC - PRIVATE COLLABORATION

UNICO Broadband Program

Asteo Red Neutra and Rede Aberta have been awarded, in their respective areas, grants from the UNICO Banda Ancha Program, which recognizes and finances broadband deployments in rural areas with a connectivity deficit.
