The network combines deployments of Asteo Red Neutra and Rede Aberta in Spain with Iberian and Atlantic connectivity projects. From municipalities and districts to data centers, operators, and international corridors, these infrastructures expand connectivity and interconnection options.

Venus Spain and Portugal
Venus Spain–Portugal is a long-distance communications corridor developed from Rurix's rural digital infrastructure platform, through Asteo Red Neutra, to reinforce connectivity between Madrid, Lisbon and the major international hubs.
Based on Asteo's networks, the project creates new high-capacity and low-latency backbone routes that increase redundancy and improve the resilience of the Iberian Atlantic corridor.
The infrastructure of Venus Spain and Portugal is supported by state-of-the-art DWDM technology and a future-ready network architecture designed to scale efficiently in response to growing data traffic, cloud expansion, and the deployment of artificial intelligence and edge services.
Thanks to its neutral and open model, this corridor allows operators, hyperscalers, and cloud providers to access robust and flexible transport capacity, connecting international capacity with the capillarity of the rural territory.

FTTH network in rural areas
Rural FTTH networks in more than 2,300 population centers in Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, including Ciudad Real, Extremadura, Galicia, and the Community of Madrid.
Through a neutral wholesale model, these infrastructures allow national, regional, and local operators to offer ultra-fast broadband services to residents in rural municipalities, industrial parks, and business environments that have historically been underserved.
By integrating under a single platform the FTTH deployments of Rede Aberta in Galicia and Asteo Red Neutra in Castile and León, Castile-La Mancha, including Ciudad Real, Extremadura, and Madrid, they represent one of the largest rural neutral fiber networks in Spain, prepared to continue growing in homes, businesses, and new digital nodes in the coming years.

With XGSPON technology, the FTTH networks of Asteo Red Neutra and Rede Aberta, integrated into the Rurix platform, connect hundreds of small municipalities with large backbone networks, enabling next-generation speeds in towns that, in many cases, have fewer than 1,000 inhabitants.

Neutral connectivity point in Galicia
Galnix
Galnix, located in Santiago de Compostela, is Galicia's first neutral connectivity point, placing the community on the map of major data traffic exchange nodes. It allows for a reduction of up to 75% in the distance that data must travel compared to routes that depend on distant nodes, significantly improving latency.
Galnix acts as a neutral interconnection point for operators, companies, universities, and public administrations. By centralizing traffic exchange, it simplifies network interconnection and improves communication efficiency throughout the Galician digital ecosystem. This translates into lower latency, faster browsing, and more robust interconnectivity for critical digital services.
The closest traffic management and monitoring is key for smart cities, telemedicine, industrial automation, and e-commerce, which is why Galnix benefits both urban environments and rural areas.
The project is supported by the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (IGAPE), which backs it for its innovative nature and its capacity to drive the digital transformation of Galicia, with a special focus on SMEs, emerging sectors, and rural areas.
Galnix is part of the infrastructure and project portfolio of the Rurix platform through Rede Aberta, a participant in its development along with cloud.gal and Norvoz Telecom.
Galnix complements rural FTTH networks and long-distance projects with a neutral node that optimizes data flow and strengthens Galicia's position in the digital environment.

Atlantic Arc: study of the Atlantic Arc digital corridor
Atlantic Arc is a study project promoted by Rede Aberta and co-funded by the CEF Digital programme through the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) of the European Union.
Its objective is to design a future high-capacity terrestrial backbone network along the European Atlantic corridor, laying the technical and strategic foundations for a new “data highway” in the Atlantic Arc.
The study will analyze a route of nearly 2,000 km that will connect key cities along the Atlantic coast, from Bordeaux to Lisbon. The planned corridor links Sines, Lisbon, and Porto with Vigo, A Coruña, Gijón, Santander, and Bilbao, extending towards Bayonne and culminating in Bordeaux, and incorporating connections to submarine cable landing stations and major data centers in the region.
Atlantic Arc is the essential preliminary step to define what this infrastructure should be like: routes, capacities, interconnections, critical nodes, and neutral and open governance models. The project will evaluate solutions to strengthen the cross-border interconnection between Portugal, Spain, and France, improve the resilience of existing routes, and have a network prepared to support the growth of data traffic, cloud, and artificial intelligence in the Atlantic region.
The participation of Rede Aberta ensures that the design of the future backbone takes into account both large urban hubs and potential extensions to rural areas, moving towards more inclusive connectivity across the Atlantic Arc.
Through Rede Aberta, Atlantic Arc is integrated into Rurix's portfolio of strategic projects, reinforcing its role as a digital infrastructure platform that connects international corridors, cloud ecosystems, and low-density population territories.
